Who this covers

This policy explains how the Nudzie desktop application ("Nudzie", "the app", "we", "us") handles information. It applies to the app you install and run on macOS or Windows. Nudzie is a local-first application for reminders and calendars: there is no Nudzie account and no Nudzie cloud storing your reminder or calendar data.

Information we collect

We do not collect personal information from the desktop app's reminder and calendar features. Nudzie does not send your reminder or calendar data to us. Specifically:

• No account. You do not create a Nudzie account or give us an email, name, or password. (If you connect Google Calendar, Nudzie can see the address of the account you connected, so it can show you which one is linked - it stays on your device and is never sent to us.)
• No analytics or telemetry. Nudzie does not track usage, crashes, clicks, or behavior, and includes no third-party analytics SDKs.
• No advertising. Nudzie contains no ads and no advertising identifiers.

If you buy Nudzie Pro, Dodo Payments processes the checkout and license entitlement. Dodo may receive information needed for payment, tax, receipts, fraud prevention, and license-key delivery, such as your email address and payment details. Nudzie uses the license key and activation id only to unlock Pro on your device.

Calendar data

If you connect a calendar (Google Calendar, Apple iCloud, or an iCal/.ics link), Nudzie reads your upcoming events directly from that provider to your device so it can show you a reminder before a meeting. It looks at a one-hour window ahead, and from each event it reads only:

• the event's title, to show you what the reminder is for;
• the event's start time, to know when to nudge you;
• the event's id, so the same meeting isn't announced twice.

Nudzie does not read event descriptions, locations, or guest/attendee lists. It does not read event end times either. The one exception: for Google Calendar, Nudzie checks whether you personally have declined an event so it can skip reminding you about it - it ignores who else is invited, and never reads attendee names or email addresses.

This data:

• is accessed read-only - Nudzie never creates, edits, or deletes events;
• is kept only in memory on your device while the app is running, used solely to display the next reminders;
• is never transmitted to us or to any third party, and is not written to disk as event content.

Retention & deletion

Event data is never written to disk - not as a file, a cache, or a database. It exists only in the app's memory for as long as it is needed, and is replaced with a fresh one-hour window about once a minute. It is discarded when you disconnect the calendar and gone entirely when you quit Nudzie, because quitting ends the only place it was ever held. Nothing is retained after use, and there is no event history to export or delete.

Google user data & Limited Use

When you connect Google Calendar, Nudzie requests exactly three scopes and no others:

• calendar.events.readonly - lets Nudzie read the events on your primary Google calendar, so it can nudge you before a meeting starts. This is the only calendar scope Nudzie asks for.
• openid - the standard sign-in scope that completes the Google sign-in itself.
• email - lets Nudzie show you which Google account is connected, so you can tell at a glance in Settings → Calendars. Your address is held in memory on your device and is never sent to us.

Nudzie deliberately does not request the broader calendar.readonly scope. That scope would also expose your list of calendars, calendar settings, and sharing permissions, none of which Nudzie needs. Because Nudzie only reads your primary calendar, the narrower events-only scope is enough - and it means Nudzie has no way to see your other calendars, your settings, or who your calendars are shared with. Nudzie also cannot create, edit, or delete anything: every scope above is read-only.

Nudzie's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The read-only access token that authorizes this is stored only on your device (see "Where things are stored"). You can disconnect at any time in Settings → Calendars, which removes the stored token, or revoke access from your Google Account permissions.

Where things are stored

Everything Nudzie saves is stored locally in your operating system's per-user application-data folder. Nothing is uploaded. This includes:

• Sign-in credentials you choose to keep - a Google refresh token, an Apple app-specific password, or iCal feed URLs - are stored only if you enable "Stay signed in to calendars", and are encrypted at rest using your operating system's secure storage (Keychain on macOS, DPAPI/Credential store on Windows). Turn the setting off and nothing is stored.
• Your preferences (reminder settings, active hours, chosen character, theme, etc.).
• Personalization you add, such as a custom character image or a custom sound file - processed and kept on your device only.

Third-party services

When you connect a calendar, your device communicates directly with that provider (Google, Apple, or the host of an iCal link). Your use of those services is governed by their own privacy policies. Nudzie is not a party to that data exchange beyond your own device requesting your own data.

If you purchase Pro, checkout, payment processing, receipts, and license-key delivery are handled by Dodo Payments. Calendar events, reminder text, custom characters, and custom sounds are not sent to Dodo by the desktop app.

Children

Nudzie is a general-audience productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them (we do not collect information from anyone).

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this URL.
